Ideal "out of London" venue for London based couple.
Exceptional quality of the staff (particular thanks to Sarah Horseman) matched the beauty (and functionality) of the surroundings. EH really did help to take the bulk of the stress out of organising the day.
My wife and I were married at Eltham Palace in July 2011. The romantic intimacy of the round room was perfect for the ceremony (100 guests) and the Great Hall was the ideal location for the wedding breakfast and evening celebrations. The grounds offer fantastic photographic and catering opportunities. *All* the staff exceeded our expectations. A perfect wedding day. I would disagree with the earlier reviewer that the palace is an expensive venue - it is amazing value for exclusive use of such a unique location. Yes, the list of approved suppliers is restrictive - we ended up with a caterer and florist travelling great distances - but the suppliers were superb and I would definitely recommend them.
We had our wedding reception here in September 2011 - the place looks as stunning as it does in the pictures. All the staff were extremely helpful on "game-day" abley led by Sarah - they have a preferred list of suppliers and deviation from the list is not permitted - but who wants to deal with too many decisions anyway - our only criticism was with the DJ - modern technology being what it is - you might consider an ipod. PS We had an Indian themed reception - they are very good at accomodating those!
I am getting married this year and as I live within 2 miles of Eltham Palace I decided to enquire about holding my wedding there. The venue is stunning - particularly if you're a Deco fan. I didn't chose the venue as it was prohibitively expensive - £7000 for the venue alone, without food, drink, flowers etc. You also had to chose from a prescribed list of (also very expensive)suppliers for food/drink/flowers and were unable to provide your own. If you have the money, and serious money at that, the venue would be a delight.
