Fabulous Day

Our engagement was Valentines Day 2009 and the wedding Sunday June 13th 2010. The decision to set a date was taken January 2010 so we had our work cut out.

We wanted a 'one stop shop' wedding of ceremony, wedding breakfast, evening reception, accommodation and facilities. St Mellion ticked all those boxes and the standard of the facilities was amazing, it cant be long beofre they get the fifth star. The intention was to have a small guest list with close family and friends only, allowing us to make a long weekend of it, arriving the day before and staying an extra night whilst our two boys, James 4 and Finley 2, were looked after by grandparents.

With 2 children and a very hectic work/home life the arrangements were done predominantly by late night emails to our planner Naomi who was always helpful, prompt to reply and patient with us. Whenever we did visit the venue Naomi and the rest of the staff were always really friendly to go with it. Planning the day involved a mixture of making choices from the brochure which was great for us, and also requesting personal touches. One concern we did have was the risk that being at a golf club might result in us playing second fiddle to those with bats and balls but even when we held up play driving buggies to the lake for photos we got a round of applause from an all male fourball - think the dress blowing up had something to do with that!!

Superstition went out the window on the morning of the big day when bride, groom and two offspring started the day with a full english. We got away with it. From that point on it went without a incident and the way we were treated by the staff, especially rachael will be something we wont forget, nothing was too much trouble and we felt like celebrities. This attention lasted right through until we checked out on Tuesday morning and we were gutted it had to end. The ceremony was what we wanted and all the arrangements for balloons, cakes, flowers, table set up and photographer went smoothly.

The biggest thanks and compliments goes to our MC Andy who worked tirelessly all day until we headed down to the 24hr bar at midnight, an unexpected bonus for those of us with the stamina. St mellions strength was the standard of facilities and also the level of service and attention. This is bets summed up by a request from one of Rachael's friends who asked for tequila but was told by the bar staff they didnt have any. Andy had overheard and insisted "what the bride wants, the bride gets". Thankfully the slammers didnt last long, but the memories will.

WEDDING - JULY 2010

St Mellion is the perfect venue for a wedding, as we found out when we had our daughter's wedding there this July (2010). Naomi the Wedding Co-ordinator and the team did us proud. The room was laid our perfectly and the service, food and attention to detail was second to none. We had so many of our guests commenting on what a lovely place and how they had a great day, which was lovely as a lot of hard work was put into that day. I would have no hesitation in recommending anyone to use St Mellion for their special day. Well done St Mellion.
