Fairytale Wedding Venue

If I had to conjure the most perfect, dreamlike, unspoilt location for a fairytale wedding then Osmaston Park is it. At our wedding in July everyone was blown away by the stunning setting and view of the park in all the different lights - from bright sun to dusk. What's amazing too is to be able to see the panoramic woods and lakes from inside the marquee because of the transparent sides. So many of our guests continue to tell us how they fell in love with this special and romantic place. There is something very magical about Osmaston.

Andrew and Top Marques were so helpful and supportive, both during the build up to the wedding and on the day itself. Everything ran smoothly thanks to the highly professional team there.

It really was the best day of our lives. Thank you, thank you.

The perfect wedding venue

I am writing to thank you for all your help whilst we were organising our wedding at Osmaston Park on 28th May 2011. When we started looking at wedding venues we scoured the whole of the East Midlands for the perfect setting for my wedding day; Osmaston was the first place we visited and it captured our hearts from that moment on. No other venue compared with the beauty and stunning location that Osmaston holds; we booked two years before my big day content in the knowledge that we had made the right choice. During our wedding planning we had the full support and help from the team at Osmaston who couldn't do enough to help with our enquiries and any concerns we had. When our wedding day finally arrived everything was just perfect the marquee and grounds looked amazing and we had a wedding day which will be remembered forever. Our guests were stunned by the location and we still have family and friends e-mailing us weeks later to say what a fabulous day they had. Both Anthony and I would like to say a huge thank you to you for helping make our dreams come true and for going the extra mile, even to the point of your own expense of putting a gate in by the mill building so I could use this location for my wedding pictures (which are spectacular). We can't say enough good things about Osmaston to do it the justice it deserves but it will hold a special place in our hearts forever as our amazingly perfect wedding venue.

When we first saw Osmaston Park we knew immediately it was where we wanted to get married. It is the kind of idyllic setting that you always imagine for the biggest day of your life. The staff were excellent in all arrangements, eager to get things done and help us out. The photos from the day look magnificent and the mixture between stone ornaments and architectural features and the natural beauty of the lake, woods and fields made for a stunning backdrop. We will never forget the exceptionally romantic atmosphere travelling down the tree lined avenue in a horse drawn carriage. The marquee itself is a splendid structure and the way it had been set up made it feel the perfect size for the number of guests we had, not too imposing and not too cosy – just right.
Many thanks again for your help in organising a perfect day!

On the way back from an unsuccessful visit to our initial preferred venue, we decided to take a drive down the driveway of Osmaston Park to have a peek. As we had not made an appointment we could only get so far down the entrance before gates prevented us from getting any further. As soon as we started the drive down the mile road I was instantly hooked. The views as you approach the park are absolutely breath taking, with the landscape appearing never ending. We got as far as we could go and I was desperate to see more.
We quickly arranged a viewing that same week and were greeted by the lovely Lady Philippa Walker-Okeover, whose friendly smile and kind nature we immediately warmed to. Taking the drive down the road to the park, again gave us goose bumps, but we were not quite prepared for how we would feel when we saw the park. On entering we were automatically met with the WOW factor. We drove in to the area where the marquee would sit and were faced with even more acres of beautiful greenery set above an expansive lake. From that moment we both knew this was the venue for us. The privacy, combined with the beautiful setting are just priceless. Although Osmaston house no longer stands, the venue is still steeped in character and history. The remnants of the outside area still withstand, with steps down to a fabulous pond with views across the lake - great for pictures.
The set up of Osmaton is perfect for what we wanted. The marquee meant we could dress the venue exactly as we wanted, and Osmaston were extremely accommodating. Usually, couples come to the venue the day before the wedding to dress the venue. I, however, wanted to be there on the Thursday before as we had so much to do. Lady Philippa and her husband Sir Andrew were more than accommodating in allowing us to do this. At the drop of a hat they were always on hand to open the gates for us whatever time we needed, for as long as we needed and nothing was too much trouble.
Whatever venue we chose we were certain that we wanted to be able to bring our own catreres in, something that most venues do not allow. Osmaston list a select number of preferred caterers on their website, one of whom happens to be my husband's aunty's catering business, Golden Goose. Again, this ticked a box for us.
On seeing the venue we decided that if possible we would like to hold our wedding over 2 days, with people coming back on the Sunday for a luncheon. Osmaston again were more than helpful in accommodating this. The venue was great as it worked brilliantly for a more formal feel on the Saturday and offered a relaxed atmosphere for the Sunday, with people playing games out on the lawn.
The marquee side of things is all handled separately by Top Marques Marquee Company, an extremely friendly family run business who can't do enough for you. With the vision I had of how I wanted everything to look, I had a lot of questions throughout about logistics. Top Marques were always on hand to give me a quick response, either in person or on the phone, and accommodated wherever possible. They even went as far as providing me with hay bails for seating outside! The marquee itself was stunning, by far the nicest I have seen. It was immaculate both inside and out and extremely spacious. We had 172 guests for the whole day, and despite the rain preventing them from being outside, the marquee provided a comfortable reception area that had enough space for people to be away from the tables. The guys from Top Marques were on hand first thing and last thing at night, and were even kind enough to taxi a few of the guests back to their hotel at night. They were back on site early Sunday morning to allow us to prepare for the next day.
They really are a great bunch of people, who made the whole process very stress free. Overall the venue really is a magical place, one of Derbyshire's hidden gems. Lady Philippa and Sir Andrew have a real passion for the Park, obvious from how well looked after it is. Their aim is to make sure you are happy and will do whatever they can to ensure your day runs smoothly. They were quite clear that they were always on hand should wish to speak to them or visit the park. Their down to earth manner and warmth really made the whole process very easy.
Osmaston Park really does need to be viewed in person to appreciate the full extent of what is has to offer. If you want an original venue that really allows you to personalise your special day, then make sure you include it on your shortlist.

It was the first place we viewed when planning our wedding, and no other place compared after that.. The views are absolutely spectacular, and the peacefulness coupled with the privacy makes the day truly special. We both enjoyed every moment of it, everybody was very helpful and we want to thank them. Lovely classic English countryside at its best, and with the ability to decorate the site to your own style, it makes everything so personal to the couple. Thank you very much, we had a fantastic time!
