My husband and I married yesterday 20.08.2011. We had a church ceremony but then on to the Blues for champagne reception and evening buffet/disco.
From the moment we enquired about this venue we were provided with lots of help and advice on planning the wedding but at no time was Amelia (our wedding coordinator) ever pushy and we were free to visit the ground on numerous occasions prior to the big day with no fuss!!!
Amelia took care of everything, emailing me regular updates on match fixtures (days to avoid or consider later arrival, hiring a DJ, buffet and drinks options etc).
I was convinced by the time the wedding came around that everything would be perfect.
It wasn't of course.... it was BETTER!!!!!
On arrival we were greeted by our wedding manager Andy and his colleagues who advised us of the running order of the day. We had already pre- arranged this but due to the excitement they were keen to keep us informed and check we were happy.
Drinks had been provided in the lounge where everyone had been able to mingle and enjoy background music and entertainment by a local entertainer.
The club offered a tour of the stadium which is a must for any die hard blues fans or just footie fans in general. Everyone who went raved about it, and about the guide who is so knowledgeable about the stadium. The tour takes 30-45 mins and is a great way to entertain people while the bridal party had private photos.
Although it’s a football ground there are lots of beautiful spots for photos, the Manager's lounge, the directors seats, the dug outs lol and the tunnel.
Then up to the evening reception, we hired the jasper carrot suite which has a room length view of the pitch and is a stunning, stunning view. We were able to move the time of the buffet forward at a moment’s notice when the children in the party began to get restless.
They provided specific food for guests with dietary requirements that I had not been informed about until after the buffet was served.
The food is breath taking and everyone commented on this. This is no ordinary sausage on a stick buffet. We had prawn skewers, Indian platters, stone baked pizzas, the list goes on. The top table were served at the table so did not have to queue which was fabulous.
From start to finish the service we have received from everyone at the blues ground was amazing, first class. They bent over backwards for us!!! WE took the evening package which was £1850 for 120 people, this included red carpet on arrival, wedding manager and security, but we were treated more like we were spending £180,000.
I know some people have reservations about a football ground being tacky or common but that couldn't be further from the truth. If I did it again I wouldn't change a thing!!!
