A perfect wedding day at High Rocks

We had an utterly fabulous wedding day thanks to High Rocks. Luigi and his team were fantastic. Whenever we wanted to come over, he made time to see us and speak with us. He answered our questions and put us at ease. We met Martin the day before our wedding day and he was brilliant too, as a part of the High Rocks team and also as our toast master.
The day was made even more brilliant by our arrival on the steam train which stops at the bottom of the garden, and so I was greeted by the guests as the groom waited indoors. Delicious canapes were served on the beautiful garden terrace and we were lucky enough with the weather that we were able to take our guests up to the rocks.
Dinner was delicious and we had many compliments about the standard of the food. We were also able to customize the evening buffet to include the bits we wanted and also a cheese board. The shuttle bus ran from the venue to various hotels all night which was perfect for the variety of guests. Their house DJ was lovely- once we had indicated what we wanted he played music that the we and the guests danced to all night. One week on, and we popped back to pick up a few left over items which were safe and sound and it was a pleasure to see Luigi again.
I would absolutely recommend this venue. Weddings and functions are their main business and they know what they are doing and also have reliable contacts (like Vivienne who covered our chairs- who would also come to see us when we needed her). We were in control of the event but we also trusted the High Rocks team to make our day brilliant. And they did.

I had my wedding reception at the High Rocks in October 2010 and it was a lovely day. The staff made it a very special day. Luigi and The toastmaster Martin were excellent. They are very relaxed in their attitude to contacting you before hand but a month before a meeting takes place and they cover everything from the menu, seating, DJ, how you want your day to run etc.
On the day the toastmaster was entertaining and kept my guests in order. He was checking in with me throughout the proceedings. It felt relaxed but all under control which meant we could all enjoy the surroundings. The Presidents suite is a lovely size room. The food was delicious and came out hot. The High Rocks mini bus was available when we wanted. This is not the place to book if you want lots of meetings beforehand. You must trust them they know what they are doing, they hold functions most weekends. And they are very thorough. Hope this review helps as i read some reviews before my wedding and they made me anxious when i needn't be.

HI,
I am going to get married in few weeks at the High Rocks.
I did have few dinners over there some good some not so good. Unfortunately ( I know not an excuse) the stuff is not apologetic but what I will say it's a culture thing, this is not been rude just a different way of dealing with problems. They ask you questions to understand not because they are rude just it's the way that it is in their country. Have you ever been in Italy in a restaurant?? well you try to argue in Italy that the food you eat was horrible...the only thing I would say is Good luck!!!
Luigi will do his best to make sure things are done correctly and he is very specific in how he does things, he might have took your name down to make sure that he pays extra care. Well few weeks will be my turn and I will let you know. Just one advise make sure you are aware of all the charges!!!
Regarding the emails...well I would suggest to call Luigi during the evening in the middle of the week, have you ever been there at the week-end during high season....so so busy and it will be crazy to expect that they have the time to reply!! You just need to call at the right time!!
I hope this help!!!

Oh no

Hi All

I have my wedding booked with High Rocks next August. I booked the venue back in Oct 09, we were so impressed on first viewing that we couldnt wait to show our parents.

I too have had some issues with the staff, only in the fact that i have been emailing and it takes ages for them to respond, which i kind of understand as i am booked for 2011.

However we took a trip to T.Wells on half term to scope the hotels out for guests to stay in, i thought it would be a good idea to have lunch at H.Rocks. To my disappointment, it was one of my worst eating out experiences. The Bar food was disgusting. We spoke to Luigi after as my mum was livid that they could serve it. He took a note of my name and date of wedding and i thought that this was because we were upset, however now i am worried that he has taken a note to make life hell. He'll have a good shot, i wouldnt take on my in laws.

Ladies i would just say stand your ground, i am not going with any of his recommended suppliers as they are far more expensive than companies i have found. My advice would be to get a Toastmaster in for the day, as i have been advised that it is the waiting staff who carry out this role, hence timings of the day not running smoothly, this way it is the toastmaster who deals with the staff and at the end of the day they are being paid to make everything perfect for you.

We are going back in a couple of weeks to have sunday lunch with both families to see how they cope with a large group on what seems to be a very busy day.

My only saving grace is that the more people we speak to who have been to a wedding a high rocks have been nothing but complimentary.
But i would feel the same if i had experienced the same bad service. And if you do think that this venue isnt going to make your day as special as it should be, then maybe it would be idea to think of somewhere else, but i think if you had a toastmaster they could really help with the day.

I hope all goes ok, and if your already married, Congratulations

Admin:  Hi Alexandra, I hope the wedding plans go well and the trial dinner with the family works out for you. If you have concerns I think another meeting with the venue owners is never a bad idea. It may be that they are not aware of some of the issues you have raised. I wish you luck with the remaining plans and hope you have a fantastic wedding day. Bob - WeddingVenues.com

I have booked my wedding there for next year. I found he was really helpful until I booked the smallest room and paid my deposit. Now he doesn't really want to talk to me and only answers my questions by email. I'm hoping that nearer the time he will be more helpful, but after reading your review I am concerned

To the lady who has booked her wedding at High Rocks in June. You are not alone my love and if I was you I'd find another venue as soon as possible. The man you mentioned is very rude to all guests and to people who work in the wedding business. I had equipment damaged by him after we set up at a wedding. He argues with everyone and I observed him trying to stop other wedding businesses from working at his venue. He does this by making life as hard as possible for people to set up (even when bride and groom have arranged for us to do so). He makes the meal run hours over time so that the evening is spoilt and he dominates his staff. I've never worked a venue where staff are too scared to stop and wish the happy couple good luck or accept goodwill as they are monitored by cctv all the time.
I've blacklisted this venue and will never work there again.
Her expects the hirer to go through him for everything and his products (ie chair covers of nylon with badly knotted organza bows) are inferior. It had been raining heavily at the weekend when we woirked the venue and he wouldn't even sweep the patio so the bride's dress was muddied.
It's worth losing your deposit to ensure you have happy memories of your wedding.
Venues I've worked where they bend over backwards to help the happy couple are, Port Lymne, King Chrles Hotel (Chatham)SWanley banqueting to name but three.

High Rocks wedding Venue.
I'm to be getting married at the the high rocks in June and have not been very happy with the way that I have been spoken to by management from High rocks.
I have never been married before and like all brides we panic if something does not sound right. Having High rocks with experience a lot of weddings as this is there profession you would think they would know how to be a bit diplomatic if a bride is worrying and not happy with something if it is not what they wanted on there wedding day. I have been told by the manager that I'm pushy and Rude and then was not able to say a word as he was talking over me every second I tried to talk. He was very rude and has made me not enjoy the run up of my wedding as I feel High Rocks has now made me feel very uncomfortable and not looking forward to the Big day being held High rocks . Its seems to me that they do not care how I feel or what I have to say to them as they think they are always in the right because they have years of experience and I don't. Making me look and sound a fool. They have double booked the time of my arrival with another bride and then Told me that they have sorted this out now. But every time I call them to check that all is in place I get spoken to RUDE and almost shouted out by the manager named LUIGI. It is almost as if they have taken the money and now don't care weather or not I am happy. This to me shows that they dont have any customer care. when we first went there to look at the venue they cold not do enoght for us but now this has all changed. I have also been told by the management that I am a lire and a pest in so many words. Isn't it OK to call and enquire if you have a question ? Can anyone tell me if they have had the same problem with High ROCKS ?
