Venue description
The private estate village of Tissington sits just four miles north of the Georgian market town of Ashbourne, on the edge of the Peak District. Tissington Hall, built in 1609, is surrounded by 10 acres of private garden, offering spectacular photographic opportunities.
Tissington Village is one of only a handful of privately owned villages left in the UK. Completely unspoilt, it is often used for filming historical and costume dramas. The Hall is only ever let on an exclusive basis, allowing you the ultimate in privacy.
The private home of Sir Richard FitzHerbert is licensed for Civil Ceremonies in the Main Hall, a dramatic stone flagged Jacobean hall with a superb 17th century Gothic fireplace or the East or West Drawing Rooms on the first floor overlooking the Rose Gardens. If the weather is fine, it is also possible to get married outside on the Terrace, with the wedding ceremony conducted under the Arcade.
Alternatively, it may be possible to marry in the beautiful Norman Church of St. Mary in the village of Tissington, just a short walk from the Hall.
After the wedding ceremony, a summer drinks reception is usually held in the Rose Gardens. As the warm evening sunshine sets slowly over the arboretum, the heady scent of roses lingers in the air. The background tinkle of champagne glasses and the lilting notes from a string quartet create a magical atmosphere. This is also a dramatic setting for your photographs.
Guests then make their way through the gardens to the 10-acre arboretum where our new wedding marquee is sited amongst the rare trees.
Our excellent caterers, The Red Olive (www.theredolive.co.uk) have been selected because they offer fantastic food, the highest standards of service and competitive prices. They offer a flexible range of served and buffet menus to suit your taste and budget and will be happy to meet you and discuss your plans in more detail.
The marquee is fully equipped to a high specification with heating, lighting, tables, chairs, dance floor, bar and integrated luxury loos all included. Huge picture windows offer spectacular views across the garden to the Hall and the mature cedars around the marquee are dramatically illuminated at night time to create a fantastic party atmosphere.
In fact, we are convinced that we have thought of everything that you will need for an unforgettable party!
We can also offer you use of the sumptuous Pink Bedroom suite in the Hall where you and your bridesmaids can get ready before the wedding, making your day as fun and relaxing as possible.
With years of experience, our friendly and dedicated team will work around the clock to help you plan every aspect of your wedding. Our Wedding Coordinator will also be on hand during the wedding day itself to ensure your special day runs smoothly and efficiently.
