The Dartmoor National Park covers an area of 368 square miles. Located in the centre of Devon, this area of moorland is rich in archaeology and antiquities. The park is renowned for its wild romantic beauty and was cited as the top natural wonder of South West England in the programme Seven Natural Wonders. The park has a rich history and there are many myths and legends associated with the area, from the tale of a headless horseman to mysterious packs of ghostly hounds.
There are a number of venues near Dartmoor that can hold weddings including magnificent manor houses, historic hotels and country inns. Some hotels lie in their own expansive estate, providing the perfect backdrop for any special event, whilst others offer a cosier atmosphere, ideal for the smaller wedding party. Other locations include a 14th century castle, a golf club and, for something more unusual, a theatre or a themed pub.
