Rutland Water is both a reservoir and one of the largest man-made lakes in England. Providing water for one of the driest regions of England, Rutland Water is not simply used as a reservoir but is also a well-known and popular centre for sports aquatic, and otherwise. Also, large numbers of birdwatchers, boating enthusiasts and other holidaymakers visit every year.
There are any number of historic homes and cottages for rent, and several locations in both Oakham and Hambleton which would make ideal places to get married, or for a party or reception afterwards. Also, a wedding on the shore of the lake or at the tip of the peninsula on which Hambleton sits, while unusual, would make for a wonderfully evocative experience.
