Aberdeen – the name literally translates as between the Don and the Dee – is on the north-east coast of Scotland, and is where these two famous salmon rivers meet.
Known as the ‘Granite City’ for its use of the stone in many of the buildings the city is a thriving and bustling commercial centre which would make a perfect location for any wedding event. The choices of venue in the city alone are extensive, ranging from football grounds and grand old college halls, to the more regular luxury hotels and budget alternatives.
The shopping area is based around ‘the granite mile’ on Union Street, where there is no shortage of High Street and designer outlets together with smaller boutiques and craft shops. If, after all that shopping you need to relax, then why not peruse the exhibits at the Aberdeen Art Gallery which, amongst others, contains works by Renoir and Monet. A perfect perch for culture vultures!
