Relaxing, Beautiful and Unique Rating: Review: We had the most amazing wedding at the Tunnels in July 2011. The venue was perfect, so relaxing - it felt you were somewhere tropical. Jamie and the team were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble, their attention to detail was fantastic and the day ran so smoothly. The food was also wonderful, generous amounts, locally sourced and yummy! Our guests all had a wonderful time and also fell under the spell of the Tunnels - none of them had ever been to a wedding in such an amazing spot.
We would thoroughly recommend this as a spot to have a relaxing, special and memorable day that you and your guests will cherish.
Wonderful Venue, Fantastic Staff Rating: Review: My husband and I were married at Hylands House in July 2011. It was a warm sunny day in the middle of Hylands Park. Our guests joined us for a very romantic (and emotional) ceremony in the Drawing Room with its high ceilings, tall windows and views to the rose garden our pianist played and the day began.
We moved into the Drawing room and spilling out onto the back terrace for Pimms and Champagne, then took a little stroll through the pleasure gardens where we had photos taken - those gardens are beautiful!
To finish off our day we enjoyed a seriously tasty 3 course wedding breakfast in the Banqueting room (the staff are lovely and so happy to help). Our guests raved that the day flowed beautifully and I agree. Hylands is amazing I certainly recommend.
Amazing Team To Help Plan The Big Day Rating: Review: I am estatic about having my wedding ceremony at Pendennis Castle in Febuary, and the english heritage team have been amazing. Helping with every detail, and always there for enquiries. Could ask for better support, takes some of the stress and pressure off knowing everything there at the castle is in good hands and there experience really shows, giving great advice and guidance! Cant wait for the big day, such a beautiful location and surroundings!
Orsett Hall Hotel Basic Rating: Review: We attended a wedding here, they had the civil ceremony, the meal and the disco all in the same (small) room. The ceremony was as you'd expect for a civil ceremony - brief. The meal we had was good, it was a great touch being able to book what you wanted in advance. There was a lot of hanging around outside the room while they changed it from wedding venue to meal and then to disco. The DJ wasnt amazing - he played 60s classics alongside brand new pop records which alienated some of the older members of the party as they kept having to go on and off the dance floor for the ones they didn't like/know.
Hellidon Lakes Got the details wrong. Rating: Review: Although our Wedding Day was wonderful we feel that Hellidon Lakes dropped the ball on several occasions:
1. The Wedding Planner changed three times in the run up to our big day.
2. The venue kept overcharging us - in one evening we had to send the invoice back four times as it wrong.
3. We had to insist on choices of meal rather than a set menu for all guests.
4. The hotel forgot that a wedding had been booked in to the room on the night before despite arranging for our event dresser to decorate the room the evening before.
5. Hundreds of pounds of gifts went missing on the wedding day only to be found at the reception three weeks after our wedding.
6. A significant value of Swarovski crystals decorating our Wedding Cake were disposed of by the kitchen staff. These were worth £150.
7. The Wedding Planner kept missing key dates for meetings - we had to chase her.
8. Our Wedding Suite was a bog standard room - no flowers or little touches were provided.
The hotel got the big picture perfect but left us feeling that we had to check up on them every few days. Stressful.
