  • Silvermere Inn on the Lake
wedding reception venue in Silvermere Inn on the Lake, Bridal Couple in Lake Suite

    Perfect day
    Rating:
Review: From the moment we saw the setting of the Inn on the Lake we knew it was the perfect location for us. The initial meeting with Joanna felt comfortable and we could relax and be ourselves. Nothing was too much, even the sheer amount of emails I sent. We received all of the help we needed to live out our dream day. Each part of the magic was created by the outstanding team that Silvermere boasts. All of the guests commented on not only how fantastic the location was but the way it was set up and how much the staff went out of their ways to make each and every guest feel welcomed and as special as us. Thank you for a perfect day that will be treasured forever. Angeline and Nicole

  • Birmingham City Football Club
Our amazing wedding at St Andrew 20.08.2
    Rating:
Review: My husband and I married yesterday 20.08.2011. We had a church ceremony but then on to the Blues for champagne reception and evening buffet/disco. From the moment we enquired about this venue we were provided with lots of help and advice on planning the wedding but at no time was Amelia (our wedding coordinator) ever pushy and we were free to visit the ground on numerous occasions prior to the big day with no fuss!!! Amelia took care of everything, emailing me regular updates on match fixtures (days to avoid or consider later arrival, hiring a DJ, buffet and drinks options etc). I was convinced by the time the wedding came around that everything would be perfect. It wasn't of course.... it was BETTER!!!!! On arrival we were greeted by our wedding manager Andy and his colleagues who advised us of the running order of the day. We had already pre- arranged this but due to the excitement they were keen to keep us informed and check we were happy. Drinks had been provided in the lounge where everyone had been able to mingle and enjoy background music and entertainment by a local entertainer. The club offered a tour of the stadium which is a must for any die hard blues fans or just footie fans in general. Everyone who went raved about it, and about the guide who is so knowledgeable about the stadium. The tour takes 30-45 mins and is a great way to entertain people while the bridal party had private photos. Although it’s a football ground there are lots of beautiful spots for photos, the Manager's lounge, the directors seats, the dug outs lol and the tunnel. Then up to the evening reception, we hired the jasper carrot suite which has a room length view of the pitch and is a stunning, stunning view. We were able to move the time of the buffet forward at a moment’s notice when the children in the party began to get restless. They provided specific food for guests with dietary requirements that I had not been informed about until after the buffet was served. The food is breath taking and everyone commented on this. This is no ordinary sausage on a stick buffet. We had prawn skewers, Indian platters, stone baked pizzas, the list goes on. The top table were served at the table so did not have to queue which was fabulous. From start to finish the service we have received from everyone at the blues ground was amazing, first class. They bent over backwards for us!!! WE took the evening package which was £1850 for 120 people, this included red carpet on arrival, wedding manager and security, but we were treated more like we were spending £180,000. I know some people have reservations about a football ground being tacky or common but that couldn't be further from the truth. If I did it again I wouldn't change a thing!!! Gemma Cartwright

  • Marwell Safari Lodge Hotel
Great location but let down by some staf
    Rating:
Review: Marwell hotel is a great venue to have your whole day in one place, whether you have 40 or 140 at your wedding, it is very convenient. I have to say though, our buildup to the big day was spoilt by uninterested staff! We were quoted a discount for a room if we chose to stay on the night of the wedding and our guests were offered this discount too. When one of our guests called to book they were quoted a price that was more expensive than advertised on the internet. When we queried this, it was reduced but not really the point as it shouldn't have happened! As we got to just 14 days before the day, we were having to chase the hotel for our final bill...we wanted to get everything paid and finalized in the hectic run up to the day. We felt that we were just a number and another wedding in a long line of them, there was never any personal attention or made to feel special. It was a real shame

  • Hartland Abbey
wedding reception venue in Hartland Abbey, Hartland Abbey

    wedding venue
    Rating:
Review: We had our civil ceremony at Hartland Abbey in May this year. It was a small ceremony with twenty guests and felt very intimate and relaxed. We had planned to have drinks in the walled garden but the weather spoilt our plans where that was concerned! The Drawing Room provided the perfect setting for the ceremony, and didnt feel too big despite our small number of guests. Sue was extremely helpful in organising the day, and kindly let us make use of the gardens the next day for some informal photos. A beautiful and private setting for a wedding, we would highly recommend it to anyone.
