There’s nothing quite like seeing photos of a real wedding to get your planning juices flowing, and we’ve got a corker for you today. Anneke and Phil, both police officers, got married at That Amazing Place in Essex last August, with their beloved dog Harry as a key player in the day. He even featured on their wedding cake!
The unusually named venue was originally a 15th century monastery, and then used as a private residence (known as Hubbards Hall) for many years. Its transformation into an elegant, contemporary venue is down to its current owners, who refurbished as a boutique B&B, as well as an exclusive-use wedding venue. That Amazing Place opened only last summer, so Anneke and Phil were one of the first couples to get married here.
Ceremonies here can take place in a choice of beautiful rooms, depending on the size of the wedding party. In Anneke and Phil’s case, they had already said their vows the day before in a private ceremony, and chose to have a civil blessing ceremony under a large tree in the garden.
The police theme was already evident, with a quirky vintage police car decked out as the wedding carriage, and the sound of sirens in the distant countryside announcing the arrival of the bridal party. Phil wore his police uniform and Anneke’s bouquet was tied with a black and white ribbon.
The light-hearted, fun feel of the wedding was also reflected in the couple’s choice of a photo booth with props for their guests to use, and free cameras for the guests to take their own photos and then upload to a shared wedding app.
Offical photographs after the ceremony, taken by Light Source Weddings, also based in Essex, were taken by a Weeping Willow tree overhanging a brook at the bottom of the gardens. Meanwhile the guests enjoyed the summer sunshine and threw a tennis ball for Harry, who was delighted at all the attention.
Light Source Weddings specialise in natural, elegant wedding photography, and followed the day right from the bride getting ready in the morning through to a final stunning shot of the happy couple outside the venue as darkness fell.
That Amazing Place offers a range of catering options to suit your wedding taste and style. For a more traditional sit-down meal the hall can cater for 80 guests; extending to 150 if you choose to have a marquee erected outside. However, for a sunny day what could be better than a barbecue – which is exactly what Phil and Anneke chose.
Cake-cutting and the first dance took place in the lounge, and guest were free to party until midnight, when full use was made of the venue’s 12 deluxe bedrooms.
That Amazing Place can help with all aspects of organising the wedding, from suggestions for caterers to where to buy your rings. Anneke and Phil were thrilled with their choice of venue. ‘We have absolutely no doubt that this will become the premier place for weddings in the area and we feel privileged to have been one of the first,’ they said after the wedding. ‘The professional service ensured that everything went smoothly and that we had a perfect wedding day.’
That Amazing Place is offering 2016 exclusive-use packages (including three-course wedding breakfast for 60, DJ and toastmaster) from £9,750.
