We’re over half way through 2017 now (I know, I know…it flies by!) so we thought we’d do a round-up of all the celebrity nuptials this year so far, and provide you with some wedding inspiration!
From (nearly) Royalty to Olympic heroes, there have been some fabulous weddings this year! They said their vows at a wide variety of venues: luxury beachside “I dos” and grand castle locations, chic city clubs and romantic secret gardens. You too can have a celeb-worthy wedding, just check out the alternative selections below for some venue inspo!
Duncan & Nigora
Dragon Duncan Bannatyne and his fiancee Nigora had a romantic beach ceremony in Portugal with 140 guests there over two days. Duncan wore a kilt on the first day, as did his best man. Nigora wore a beautiful traditional white wedding dress. They had their ceremony on the beach beside a lake and then had a lavish dinner and partied until the early hours.
Jim & Jim
The Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons married his partner of 15 years, art director Jim Spiewak, at the Rainbow Room in New York City on May 13th. Both chaps looked dashing in their Tom Ford tuxedos at their ceremony. The wedding was apparently a social media free zone…phones were banned! They wanted all their guests to be fully present and to enjoy the day.
You can have your special day in a venue as super cool and unique as theirs – No Man’s Fort, Portsmouth. The Fort offer a variety of different spaces for your reception, from the Atrium to the Rooftop Deck to the Cabaret Club, each with their own style. There are also the games rooms, six bars, the spa and a host of other areas which your guests can enjoy. You can have your entire wedding out at sea! And you can fly out there by helicopter, as it has a helipad too. Can’t get much more A-list than that, can you?
Samira & Lauren
Orange is the New Black star Samira Wiley and Lauren Morelli, one of the show’s writers, had their big day in Palm Springs, California, on March 25. Samira’s parents conducted the outdoor ceremony. The newlyweds looked stunning, Samira – dressed in an off-the-shoulder white gown – holds the hand of her bride Lauren, who opted for a beautiful ivory jumpsuit with on-trend cape.
While the temperatures can’t compete with Palm Springs, the stunning Hotel Bristol sits above Tolcarne Beach, in Cornwall, and has been a destination for nuptials for 90 years. Renowned for its impeccable hospitality, the experienced staff and your dedicated Wedding Coordinator offer practical support, ensuring all goes smoothly and you can make your big day as unique as you are.
Ben & Morena
The OC‘s Ben McKenzie and Deadpool star Morena tied the knot in early June at the Brooklyn Botantical Gardens in New York. The couple – who met on the set of Gotham – had an intimate wedding that was low-key and kept away from social media.
There are some gorgeous botanical garden wedding venues in the UK, but we love Kew Gardens Hotel, a short stroll from the famous Kew. A distinctive and atmospheric place for your wedding reception, and within minutes of several churches, so you can say your “I dos” then head to the Inn for your celebrations and jubilations!
Emmy & Sam
Actress Emmy Rossum married her director beau on Sunday May 28, at the Central Synagogue on East 55th Street in New York City. They had their glamorous reception at the famous Guggenheim Museum. Emmy’s custom off-the-shoulder Carolina Herrera gown was designed to echo the shape of the museum in the bodice.
London boasts some pretty awesome venues that can compete with the Guggenheim, but the Barbican Centre is an art gallery, theatre and a botanical garden to boot! The Conservatory at the Barbican Centre is one of the most unique wedding venues in London.
This lush tropical oasis makes for a stunning setting for your wedding ceremony. Guests can move through to the contemporary Garden Room for the wedding breakfast and reception, where they have floor to ceiling windows showcasing phenomenal views of the City and the Barbican Lakes.
Pippa & James
Probably the most talked-about wedding of the year was when Pippa Middleton got hitched to her hedge-fund millionaire beau, James Matthews, in a ceremony at St Mark’s Church in Englefield, Berkshire. The couple celebrated with close family and friends, with Royal cuties Prince George as a page boy and Princess Charlotte as a flower girl.
You can say your “I dos” at Lillibrooke Manor, only a stones throw away from where Kate and Pippa grew up in Berkshire. Steeped in history, it was first mentioned on public record in 1376 and the house was once home to Lady Elizabeth and the Englefield family. The Great Barn is an impressive space, with a grand beamed ceiling and heavy wrought iron chandeliers, dramatic windows and other period features, so it wouldn’t look amiss at a Royal celebration! Tom & Dustin
One of our favourite Olympians – diver, Tom Daley – and his fiancé, Dustin Lance Black, tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony at Bovey Castle in Dartmoor national park with a Romeo & Juliet inspired wedding.
Why not take a leaf out of Tom’s book and get married at a luxurious castle yourself? Eastnor Castle in Herefordshire is an exquisite venue that offers a beautiful setting for a romantic wedding – with a stunning lake as a backdrop for photos.
Eastnor’s Great Hall, with its 60 foot high ceiling is an imposing yet intimate space for your wedding celerbrations, and leads to The Octagon Saloon with French windows onto the terrace lawns where drinks and live music can be enjoyed with lake & surrounding countryside views. Fireworks displays light up the lake and look truly spectacular, and finish off your big day with a memorable bang.
