In preparation for the new series ready to air on April 24th, we’ve found you some venues and styling tips for the perfect Game of Thrones inspired wedding. Think of the brooding castles and forests of Westeros to the beautiful gardens in sunny Dorne.
Set in 10 acres of landscaped gardens, The Italian Villa is an exclusive hire venue in Poole, Dorset which could easily be the lush Water Gardens in the Kingdom of Dorne. It’s a multi award winning venue and has just been awarded Wedding Venue of the Year 2016. Licensed to hold both marriages and civil ceremonies, hold your matrimony in a number of locations from the Medici Suite that accommodates 250 guests and has stunning view across the gardens, or exchange vows in the Italian Garden and let the flowers provide a beautiful backdrop to your wedding photos.
Winter is coming and it’s rather good actually! The Italian Villa also offers 10% discount for all inclusive weddings booked on selected winter dates, imagine welcoming your guests standing on top of the garden steps awash with snow or the interior decorated with delicate, twinkling fairy lights. Visit The Italian Gardens on May 8th for their wedding open day and have a tour of the venue to decide if its the place for you.
St Mawes Castle was Henry VIII’s very own coastal castle that has been lovingly restored by English Heritage. The Tudor castle has different locations to exchange your vows in such as the Upper Gun room with spectacular views over the Cornish coast, complete with wooden beams. The recessed windows in this ceremony room feel like you are taking a step back in time, or straight into a scene out of Game of Thrones. St Mawes looks as though it’s the double of the Red Keep in Kings Landing, home to that pesky Iron Throne.
But if the weather is a bit more Essos than Westeros, you can get married in the Little Fort nestled by the water’s edge. It’s a lovely little sun trap and the alcove offers a cosy atmosphere to your proceedings. Sixty of your closest friends and family will be able to share in your outdoor wedding, get married later in the day and enjoy the breathtaking sunset over the sea. St Mawes Castle can be booked as an exclusive use venue with drinks and dinner packages starting from just £2,800; or it can be hired whilst open to the public from £1,200. What a steal!
If you’re looking for a more secluded venue like the Starks’ castle in Winterfell then look no further! Chipchase Castle set in its own private parkland is just as broody and spectacular as Winterfell’s. This wedding venue has it’s own lake and chapel perfect for a wedding blessing. The castle itself is licensed for marriage ceremonies and civil partnerships, which can be performed by the local vicar all for a donation to the local parish, lovely and quaint!
You can choose to say your vows in the magnificent dining hall that is decorated in the characteristic Rococo style found throughout Chipchase Castle. Couples can also say ‘I do’ in the Hall which is light and airy, creating a wonderfully impressive but atmospheric wedding location. With space for a wedding band to perform during your evening celebrations, you and your guests can dance into the night.
Located on the Welsh coastline, St. Donat’s Castle is a college that is available for exclusive hire only between May- September each year, making it a much sought after wedding venue. You can choose whether to have an indoor ceremony in one of their stunning rooms registered for civil ceremonies and weddings. Or, if you’d prefer an outdoors wedding then exchange vows in the pretty inner courtyard with the flora in full bloom.
Included in the exclusive hire of St Donat’s Castle is access to the landscaped Rose, Blue and Beast gardens and also the Top Lawn. With its sea views it makes the perfect place to hold your drinks reception. A ringer for The Iron Islands Castle, although not quite so brooding, St Donat’s Castle holds its own air of grandeur and magic that make it the dream choice for your very own Game of Thrones inspired wedding day.
