After viewing a few wedding venues Liz and Andy knew that Moor Hall Hotel and Spa had everything they wanted for their perfect wedding day, and here they share the details of their big day.
Having met four years ago, Andy popped the question to Liz with a very romantic proposal on Christmas Day eve 2015. The pair celebrated Christmas with their families separately during the day, and when Liz returned home Andy had spelled out ‘Marry Me’ in candles in front of their Christmas Tree. Liz recalls she was so overwhelmed with happiness she cried for what felt like 10 minutes!
Then came the wedding planning. Liz first visited Moor Hall Hotel and Spa with her mum and mother in law and when Andy saw it he decided it was his favourite too. They were both impressed with the beautiful grounds and rooms which meant their visiting guests could stay on site.
Liz says that the staff were fantastic throughout their wedding preparation and on the day. They’ve since visited Moor Hall and the staff have remembered them and said hello.
Whilst planning their wedding day Liz and Andy picked out everything together including the beautiful flowers and cake. Having decided on a summer wedding Liz knew when she saw the elegant Charter Suite that sage green and pinks with a base champagne colour would enhance its beauty. And we have to say we couldn’t agree more.
The Charter Suite looked romantic and serene dressed with white chair covers and pink ties, which tied in with the cream roses and pink bud floral arrangement on the register table. One of Liz’s most cherished memories of their wedding day in July 2017 was walking down the aisle and seeing Andy.
Moor Hall Hotel and Spa’s convenient location has local churches nearby. So if you wanted to tie the knot in a traditional service the team are more than happy to welcome you afterwards for your receptions. The sweeping lawns and sunken garden are the perfect backdrop for your wedding photographs as captured by Ric from FacesPlacesPhotography on Liz and Andy’s big day.
After a traditional confetti welcome of the newly weds on the lawn they were pleased to see that all their guests, young and old, were enjoying the bouncy castle!
The guests then joined Andy and Liz for their first meal as husband and wife tucking into a feast of confit duck leg for their starter along with a raspberry sorbet. All of the guests commented to the happy couple how delicious the food was especially the 24 hour braised blade of beef and chocolate fudge brownie.
Moor Hall Hotel and Spa is a venue for all seasons; you can see how gorgeous it is in summer but during winter picture open fires against the oak panelling. It can be transformed into a cosy and snug venue, serve your guests warmed mulled wine and with preferential overnight stay rates for wedding guests you can dance into the small hours.
As delicious as the wedding breakfast was Liz missed the evening buffet because she was too busy dancing the night away!
Another fond memory of Liz’s was Andy sitting her down in the middle of the dance floor during their evening reception. Her thoughtful husband serranaded her by singing along to Michael Bublé’s ‘Everything’, their chosen first dance song.
And would Liz recommend a wedding at Moor Hall?
‘Unreservedly! I cannot thank the staff at Moor Hall enough for the exceptional service: it was everything that we wanted and the fact that we had sunshine all day only made it even better. Anyone thinking of getting married here should not miss an opportunity to visit. We will always treasure our memories and look forward to visiting Moor Hall again soon.‘
