Emma and Warren had the day of their lives when they tied the knot with a spring wedding at Moor Hall Hotel and Spa, Sutton Coldfield. Here they share an insight into what made their day of celebration such a success, as well as their beautiful wedding photos taken by Lasting Image Photography.
Warren had been planning his proposal to Emma, his partner of five years, for some time before he popped the question. Wanting everything to be just right, he followed tradition and asked Emma’s parents for her hand; knowing how in love they were, they couldn’t be more thrilled for their daughter. The next step was for Warren to commission an engagement ring crafted especially for her by Emma’s uncle. In short, it was a well-kept secret!
When it came to the actual proposal, Warren waited for the perfect moment: on the last night of a sun-kissed holiday in Tenerife, Warren dropped to one knee on the hotel balcony and asked the Love of his Life to be his wife.
Choosing Moor Hall as their venue wasn’t difficult for this happy couple. In fact, they had only just started their search when they saw that Moor Hall was hosting a Wedding Open Day. Having never been to anything like that before, they decided to go along just to see what it was all about. By the end of the day they knew that this was the place for them!
Emma recalls that on arrival that day they must have looked a bit lost, because a member of staff came over to ask if they needed any help. The man was pleased to give them a full tour of the hotel, showing them all the options of rooms, the bridal suite, and talking them through the catering. He was friendly, informative and didn’t rush them – little did they know at the time, that they were being personally shown around by the General Manager himself, Sam Goss.
It was this exceptional service that made a real impression on Warren and Emma; in the interest of comparison, they went on to visit several other venues before they made their final decision. But Moor Hall had won their hearts; as Emma explains, ‘no other venue we looked at came close!’.
It wasn’t just the attentive staff and excellent level of service that led Emma and Warren to choose Moor Hall; the other aspects of the venue that won them over were the beauty of the setting, the stunning sunken garden, and the fact that the venue could provide versatility for their guests, whether they ended up with a large wedding or more intimate day.
Warren and Emma exchanged their marriage vows at a nearby church, then led their guests to Moor Hall for the reception. While the guests enjoyed their glasses of champagne and catching up with each other in the gorgeous grounds, the Lasting Image photographer whisked the newlyweds away for their photo shoot.
With so many beautiful backdrops, it was a photographer’s dream! Emma and Warren had particularly loved the sunken garden when they had visited, describing it as ‘breathtakingly beautiful’, so it was amazing to finally be there, arm in arm, man and wife at last after all that planning and dreaming!
Warren and Emma had been to a taster session a few months before their big day, in order to sample the menu and make their selection. With every mouth-watering morsel the decision didn’t get any easier, but in the end, the guests were treated to a starter of Thai fishcakes served with sweet chilli sauce, followed by a palate-cleanser of champagne sorbet. The main course was roasted chicken infused with the flavours of garlic and thyme, served with new potatoes and fresh, seasonal vegetables. All this was followed by a delicious dessert of lemon meringue pie, drizzled with tangy raspberry coulis, complemented with a buttery-sweet shortbread.
The team at Moor Hall lived up to expectations throughout the day, particularly during the wedding breakfast. As Emma recalls, ‘we couldn’t believe the level of service we received during the meal – it was second to none!’
With a few dietary requests to cater for, the chef had devised an alternative menu for those guests with particular requirements. This didn’t pose any problem for the kitchen team, who took care of everything without any fuss, and every guest was more than satisfied.
Emma remembers her delight the first time she walked into the dining hall, all laid out for their wedding breakfast; ‘breathtaking’ is the word she uses!
The inspiration for decor ideas had come from Pinterest pages, as well as discussion with the Moor Hall team to tap into their wealth of experience. Emma added many lovely little touches, such as the wedding pretty favour boxes topped with a delicate everlasting rose, and the gorgeously scented miniature candles by Yankee Candle.
There is nothing that Emma and Warren would change about there day; it was beautiful, romantic, their guests had an amazing time and the whole day went smoothly from start to finish. However, there is just one little thing that they would add: it all just went too quickly!
That’s not an uncommon ‘complaint’ from a happy bride and groom; we all want this perfect day to last forever! But with fabulous photographs such as these, Emma and Warren will be able to dip into their wedding album whenever they want, and bring back their joyful memories of the day.
As the afternoon stretched out into the evening, the Moor Hall team brought out a splendid evening buffet, dessert selection, sweet cart and chocolate fountain, about which the newlyweds received many compliments from their guests in the following weeks.
When asked about their favourite memories from the day, Emma and Warren explained that they had loved everything and found it almost impossible to single anything out. They went on, ‘we loved the fact that everybody was having such a good time; we had put so much thought and time into planning the wedding we just wanted it to be perfect and a memorable day for everybody.’
