A Small, Exclusive Yorkshire Dales Wedding Venue
With the magnificent backdrop of the grade 1 listed Barden Tower and the splendid Upper Wharfedale valley, this is a quite superb historical and exclusive wedding venue with fabulous views up and down the valley. As its name suggests, The Priests House was originally a 16th century chapel serving the Tower and the local area and consists of the House itself together with the newly renovated "Old Chapel".
The House itself is ideal for small, intimate ceremonies and wedding breakfasts for up to 30 guests with the ceremony in the Old Chapel and wedding breakfast in the House itself. Lovingly restored, it has retained many of the medieval features including the open fires, fabulous log beams, and quaint dressers. It is especially intimate in the darker months when the real fires and candles are fully lit and the lights are turned down... There are some restrictions on availability especially on a Saturday, but all other days are available whether for just the two of you or with just your special close family and friends.
The Old Chapel having stood empty for some 75 years has just been sympathetically refurbished and brought back to its former glory. It can host ceremonies up to 90 guests and is ideal to also use for your wedding breakfast and evening reception venue too (capacity around 70), thus providing the whole day in one location. Set in a period theme it provides a quite stunning setting overlooking the fabulous Wharfedale countryside.
Whether you use the House or Chapel, you will have exclusive use of the building and immediate grounds and as we only undertake one event on any day, you will have our undivided attention throughout.
We can also offer the Barden Bunk Barn on the other side of the Tower which provides accommodation for up to 24 guests with one room available for use as a bridal room. This would provide you with exclusive use of the whole site for your day.
The photo opportunities are endless, with superb backdrops of the ruin of the once magnificent tower, the Priests House itself, the orchard or the valley stretching into the distance. We can recommend several local photographers who have extensive experience of working with us and albums of their work are available to view at the restaurant. Debbie can also provide all your venue floral requirements.
Take the B6160 in the direction of Burnsall. (Please note there is a height limit of 10ft 9in through Bolton Abbey). Barden is about 3 miles from Bolton Abbey just after the "Strid" car park and before the turn off for Appletreewick. Look out for the "Barden" sign on your left. 150 metres later on your right is a Bus Stop. Turn right directly after that (before the phone box).
