Bignor Park is a dream venue for both wedding ceremonies and partnerships, and receptions following church services. It epitomises rural elegance and offers flexibility and exclusivity in the heart of West Sussex.

Positioned 14 miles north of Chichester and just south of the market town of Petworth, it is also within easy reach of London approximately 90 minutes away.

The 1200 acre, privately owned estate is situated in the most beautiful and unspoilt surroundings at the foot of the magnificent South Downs, within the new South Downs National Park. Tucked far away from traffic noise and civilisation down an impressive half mile long drive, it is majestic but with an understated style, and a quirky rugged charm.

In hiring Bignor Park for your wedding ceremony and reception, you have exclusive use of 11 acres of grounds and gardens. We provide you with the backdrop, the rest is a blank canvas for your imagination and aspirations to create the perfect day. You can be sure it will be a unique experience, because the versatility of our setting means you can choose exactly how you want it – a day that is yours and yours alone.

But more than that, because Bignor Park is family-run and only hired to wedding couples on a strictly limited number of occasions per year, we can go the extra mile to make sure your wedding runs smoothly, and you and your guests are relaxed, excited and have a great time.

For example, we understand the importance of feeling calm and under control as you prepare for your wedding day, so we only ever accept one booking per weekend, and equipment deliveries can be co-ordinated and decorations in place up to three days beforehand.

We fully appreciate how important it is to feel comfortable with your surroundings, so we are happy for you to visit as many times as you need to over the months and weeks running up to your big day - for example with your family, florist or photographer.

……And in the unlikely event of rain, we even encourage you to return to take photographs in the sunshine.

Ceremonies and Partnerships at Bignor Park:

Bignor Park is licensed to hold civil wedding outdoor ceremonies and partnerships in the delightful Greek Loggia. This beautiful and romantic setting is situated within the formal gardens, and Bignor Park is one of only a handful of wedding venues with an outside ceremony location.

The Greek Loggia is a roofed, stone porch under which you will exchange your vows. Your guests (space for up to 150) will be seated on the lawn in front of the Loggia and surrounded by the glorious gardens - a more magical setting for your wedding ceremony would be hard to find.

In addition, the Coach Store in the Stables is also licensed for ceremonies of up to around 70 people. This is a perfect wet weather option to have on standby, and a decision on where to have your ceremony can be left as late as the day before your wedding.

You can hire the Greek Loggia or Stables for your ceremony and the Gardens/Stables for your wedding reception celebration, or alternatively, you may have a small reception of drinks and canapés, or perhaps afternoon tea following your ceremony.

Wedding Reception options at Bignor Park:
The Stables are a charming, rustic complex of rooms dating from the late Eighteenth Century that have been lovingly restored to their original condition. The Stables comprise five rooms:
• The Coach Store - a large dancing room, or a dining room to seat around seventy.
• The Stove Room - adjoined to the Coach Store and a further dining room to seat twenty-five or an area to relax in.
• The Stalls - an additional dining or entertaining room with four original horse stalls.
• The Tack Room - a bridal room to escape to for a quiet moment.
• The Garden Room - a food preparation room for caterers.

The rooms are situated around a cobbled Courtyard that is ideal for a drinks reception. In addition, the Coach Store opens out onto the Quadrangle – a secluded walled garden perfect for drinks and evening relaxation.

Should you wish to seat more than 90 guests, you can choose to put up a marquee in the Courtyard with the option of a bespoke awning to attach to the open Stable doors. This provides a seamless transition from the Coach Store into your marquee and maximises the space available to seat up to 150 people.

The paved Quadrangle is big enough to fit a marquee either for dancing, or to seat up to 80 people.

If you are planning a lawn marquee wedding reception, Bignor Park offers a setting of quintessential Sussex countryside. Surrounded by historic parkland, the panoramic view from the Croquet Lawn extends for miles along the ridge of the South Downs, and is truly breathtaking.

The Croquet Lawn can accommodate up to 250 guests in a marquee, with a dance floor should you wish your whole reception to take place there. However, with our policy of only one booking per weekend, with this option you also have the use of the Stables for later - ideal for dancing, or creating a relaxed area to chill out.

We would be delighted to welcome you to Bignor Park for your wedding - please contact us for more details and to arrange a viewing.

Additional details:

At Bignor Park we ask that you choose from one of seven catering companies and five marquee companies that have been specially selected by us for their high standards. They bring an in-depth knowledge of the venue and attention to detail that will help to make your day perfect.
