Exclusive use venue Balinakill Country House nestles on a hillside in six acres of peaceful grounds on the west side of the Kintyre Peninsula in Argyll, easily accessible by air, boat or road. This country house retains a wealth of period features and is set in mature gardens on the edge of the village of Clachan, one of the oldest settlements in Kintrye.
When you book Balinakill you have exclusive use of the entire house in which to relax and enjoy your preparations in a leisurely manner. Balinakill is the perfect location for small intimate weddings, civil/partnership ceremonies and for larger celebrations with catering for up to 150 guests (marquee required for table seating over 50 guests). The bar is often a magnet for those just wanting to chat over a drink, while the dining room allows everyone to sit down to a meal together before ceilidh dancing, partying or just enjoying being together in the oak room or upstairs lounge. A new conservatory room overlooking the garden leads straight onto the barbecue area and is a light, bright room in which to relax or enjoy games and activities. While staying in the house we can offer a full bar service or alternatively you can fill the bar with your own drinks and serve yourself. Why not arrange a drinks delivery for before you arrive? For larger functions we can provide a full bar service and we also offer a BYOB for champagne and wine for which we charge corkage. If during your stay you feel the house needs a tidy, or you simply want someone to come in quietly and reset the fires or service the rooms , we are happy to oblige and will tailor our service to your specific requirements.
The ceremony can take place within Balinakill house or garden, or at Clachan Church, the oldest church in Argyll still used for public worship. A marquee extends our function room for larger weddings and Clachan village offers a broad range of high quality local accommodation for additional guests.
We offer a Wedding Management Service and will be happy to discuss all your requirements, menus and special requests. Whatever your ideas are, please feel free to contact us and we will do our utmost to help you create exactly what you have in mind for your special day.
We can arrange a variety of local wedding services such as bag-pipers, florists, hairdressers, beauticians, photographers and children's entertainment. Alternatively, you are welcome to make your own arrangements.
Balinakill has twelve en-suite bedrooms, an additional children's bedroom/playroom, three large public rooms, a fully equipped country kitchen, a victorian dining room and a cosy gunroom bar with a wood burning stove. A separate catering kitchen is also available should guests wish to arrange full or partial contract catering during their stay. On arrival you will find the house warm with the fires and the stoves set. The rental includes all fuel, bed linen, towels and kitchen accessories together with a small selection of toiletries and cleaning materials. Hairdryers, tea making facilities and hot water bottles are in all rooms. Full laundry and ironing facilities are available for guests' use.
Balinakill Country House is fully licensed and can provide a full bar service and wine list. However, most guests choose to stock and run the bar themselves where they will find all they need including ice buckets, cocktail shakers, a bar fridge, glass washer and pipes for kegs of draft beer and real ale enabling guests to bring their barrel of choice!

Directions by car:
The majority of visitors to the peninsula travel by road from Glasgow driving west from the city then north past Dumbarton. After Balloch roundabout head north along the west side of Loch Lomond, turn left at Tarbet then drive over the hill to Arrochar and round the top of Loch Long. It's then a steady climb to the Rest and be Thankful and a straight run through the Glen to the head of Loch Fyne. On the way you will pass the Cobbler, the famous Loch Fyne Oyster Bar, the picturesque village of Inveraray and Inveraray Castle, home of the Duke of Argyll. The scenery en route is truly breathtaking and it's a journey that everyone should take at least once. Once you reach Lochgilphead and turn south on to the Kintyre Peninsula the road becomes much quieter and you can continue to enjoy the views to the Islands and beyond. Balinakill Country House is in the village of Clachan 10 miles south of Tarbert. After passing the Clachan sign you will pass Clachan Filling Station on your right and Balinakill is the next turning on your left through the big gateposts.
