About The George in Rye wedding venue

Prominently positioned on the cobbled high street in the heart of the medieval town of Rye, East Sussex, and just five minutes from the vast, beautiful beach at Camber Sands, The George in Rye is a Grade II listed, 4-star hotel and wedding venue. Over the years we've become best known for our 'laid-back luxury' style, welcoming atmosphere and fabulous food.

The George is available on an exclusive or non-exclusive basis and appeals to couples looking to create a sophisticated occasion with a relaxed 'house-party' vibe. From intimate celebrations for 12, to receptions with all the trimmings for up to 120 guests, we offer complete flexibility and pride ourselves on our friendly, personal approach. Our stunning Regency ballroom with its hand-painted silk wallpaper, chandeliers and huge bay windows is the perfect backdrop for a wedding.

Great food and service is at the heart of a successful celebration. With an abundance of fresh, seasonal produce on our doorstep, our team of chefs and waiting staff are on hand to deliver exceptional dining throughout the wedding day.

Our 34 individually-designed ensuite bedrooms offer guests a romantic retreat. From contemporary, spacious suites to more traditional superior doubles, every room has been stamped with our eclectic style and the little details that make all the difference. There is a choice of very different styles of ‘bridal suite’. Rooms feature Vi-Spring beds, Frette linen, William Holland copper and zinc baths, power showers, REN products, flat screen TVs and Ruark iPod docks.

There are endless opportunities for incredible photographs, both within The George and around the picturesque town of Rye.

Additional details:

The George’s facilities are completely adaptable, allowing guests the option to marry either at the local historic town hall (just a minute's walk away) or within the Regency ballroom itself. If couples are blessed with sunshine guests can enjoy a celebratory toast out on the idyllic garden terrace while the bride and groom are whisked off to the nearby Camber Sands beach for their photos. During the winter months, an intimate drinks reception can be held within the elegant surroundings of the Benson Room before the grand ballroom is unveiled for the wedding breakfast.

We have a strict policy of only one event per day; it is of utmost importance to us that each and every couple has our undivided attention and service on their wedding day.

Type of Cuisine:

Modern European with much of the food cooked predominantly on the wood charcoal grill.
